4.3lbs of whole eggs, no shell (this was ~36 eggs for me)
1.1lbs of uncooked brown rice
14 grams of fish oil (link)
196 grams of raw carrots - diced or use baby carrots
315 grams of summer squash - diced
287 grams of apples - diced
46 grams of Balance IT Canine Plus supplement (link)
Tools
Food scale
2 large pots or 1 pot and a rice cooker
Mixing bowl
Cutting board and knife
Instructions
Place your rice in a pot or rice cooker. Add 2x the volume of water as you have rice, it can be approximate.
Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
Simmer the rice for about 40-50 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender. Once done, remove the pot from the heat and allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, crack the eggs and lightly beat them with a fork or whisk.
Heat a pot or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and no longer pink.
Add the chopped veggies to the pot and sauté for another 3-4 minutes, until tender.
Pour the beaten eggs over the turkey and veggies, stirring constantly until the eggs are cooked through.
Turn off the heat and add the diced apples to the pot, stirring to combine.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Once the rice and turkey-veggie mixture are both cool, mix them together in a large bowl.
Add the fish oil and Balance IT Plus supplement to the mixture, stirring well to ensure even distribution.
Portion the mixture into daily serving sizes according to your dog's size and calorie needs, and store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
Serve today's portion of food to your dog, watching them enjoy their delicious and nutritious meal!
Tips and Notes
If you don't want to make this much food, you can halve the recipe because the turkey comes in a 2 pack
This recipe provides 7 days of food for my dog, but please see the 'how much to feed' guide to determine the appropriate amount for your own dog.
Wait for the food to cool to at least below 70 degrees Celsius (feels only slightly warm if you stick your finger in) before adding the fish oil and Balance IT Plus supplement. The heat can degrade the oil and vitamins.
