Ingredients:
4 lbs of ground chicken, cooked in crumbles
85 grams of canola oil
6 grams of Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet Liquid
295 grams of medium-grain brown rice, raw
375 grams of raw apples, with skin, diced
225 grams of spinach
105 grams of raw carrots, diced or shredded
285 grams of raw bok choy, chopped
23 grams of Morton Iodized Salt
67 grams of Balance IT® Canine+ supplement
Tools:
Food scale
2 large pots or 1 pot and a rice cooker
Cutting board and knife
Large skillet
Instructions:
Start by cooking the brown rice. Place your rice in a pot or rice cooker. Add 2x the volume of water as rice. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for about 40-50 minutes, or until the rice is tender. Set aside to cool.
In a large skillet, heat the canola oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the ground chicken, breaking it into crumbles. Cook until browned and thoroughly cooked.
Add the diced carrots and chopped Chinese cabbage to the skillet, stirring occasionally until they soften slightly.
Quickly follow with the boiled spinach, ensuring it's well-drained to avoid making the mixture soggy.
Season the mixture with Morton Iodized Salt.
Turn off the heat, then fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are well distributed.
Once both the rice and chicken-veggie mix are cool, combine them in a large bowl.
Add the Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet Liquid and Balance IT® Canine supplement, stirring well to ensure even distribution.
Portion the mixture into daily serving sizes based on your dog's size and calorie needs. Store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
Serve the portion for the day and enjoy watching your dog feast on their homemade meal!
Tips and Notes:
Always wait for the food to cool down significantly before adding the Omega-3 and Balance IT® Canine supplement. This ensures the nutrients remain intact.
I started adding a little bit of salt to my recipes because dogs need iodine, just like humans. Do not add any more than the recommended amount as dogs can be sensitive to too much sodium.
