Ingredients

  • 4lbs of organic skinless, boneless chicken breast, diced (2 of the 3-pack here)

  • 1lb of chicken liver (link)

  • 5.5lbs of white potatoes, including skin

  • 1.3lbs of sweet potatoes, including skin

  • 273 grams of broccoli, chopped

  • 422 grams of spinach

  • 385 grams of bell pepper, diced

  • 495 grams of diced apple

  • 291 grams of high oleic safflower oil

  • 43 grams of fish oil (link)

  • 77 grams of Balance IT Canine Plus supplement (link)

Tools

  • Food scale

  • 2 large pots

  • 2 baking sheets

  • Cutting board and knife

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Spread the diced potatoes and sweet potatoes across the baking sheets and roast uncovered for 25 to 35 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and browned. Once done, set aside to cool.

  2. While the potatoes cook, heat a large pan over medium heat and add safflower oil. Add the diced chicken breast and chicken liver, cooking until fully cooked and no longer raw.

  3. Add the broccoli, spinach, and bell pepper to the pan, and sauté for another 3-4 minutes until everything is cooked and tender.

  4. Turn off the heat and add the diced apples to the skillet, stirring to combine. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.

  5. Once the chicken, veggie, and apple mix are cool, combine them in a mixing bowl with the cooled potatoes. Add fish oil and Balance IT Plus supplement to the mixture, stirring well to ensure even distribution.

  6. Portion the mixture into daily serving sizes according to your dog's size and calorie needs, and store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

  7. Serve today's portion of food to your dog, watching them savor their delicious and nutritious meal!

Tips and Notes

  • If you don't want to make this much food, you can halve the recipe because the bison comes in a 2-pack

  • This recipe provides 9 days of food for my dog, but please see the 'how much to feed' guide to determine the appropriate amount for your own dog.

  • Wait for the food to cool to at least below 70 degrees Celsius (feels only slightly warm if you stick your finger in) before adding the fish oil and Balance IT Plus supplement. The heat can degrade the oil and vitamins.
