  • 1lb of chicken liver (link)

  • 384 grams of uncooked quinoa

  • 323 grams of green bell pepper, diced

  • 230 grams of frozen broccoli

  • 340 grams of frozen cauliflower

  • 345 grams of apple, diced with skin

  • 50 grams of high oleic safflower oil

  • 24 grams of fish oil (link)

  • 41 grams of Balance IT Canine Plus supplement (link)

Tools

  • Food scale

  • 1 instapot

Instructions

  1. Turn on the Instant Pot to the "Sauté" function and add the safflower oil and ground turkey. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking up the turkey with a spoon until it is no longer pink.

  2. Add the whole-wheat pasta, quinoa, and 3 cups of water to the Instant Pot. Stir to combine.

  3. Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set the valve to the "Sealing" position. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.

  4. Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully release any remaining pressure manually.

  5. Open the lid and add the cooked frozen broccoli, cauliflower, diced apple, and diced bell pepper. Stir well to combine.

  6. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.

  7. Once cool, add fish oil and Balance IT Plus supplement to the mixture, stirring well to ensure even distribution.

  8. Portion the mixture into daily serving sizes according to your dog's size and calorie needs, and store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

  9. Serve today's portion of food to your dog, watching them savor their delicious and nutritious meal!

Tips and Notes

  • If you don't want to make this much food, you can halve the recipe because the turkey comes in a 2-pack

  • This recipe provides 5 days of food for my 50lb dog, but please see the 'how much to feed' guide to determine the appropriate amount for your own dog.

  • If you don't have Nordic oil, you can substitute with another omega-3 supplement, such as fish oil.

  • Put in the frozen veggies while everything is hot to speed up cooling time.
